The first round match of Group F of the 2026 FIFA World Cup between the national teams of the Netherlands and Japan ended in a 2:2 draw. The match was held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, United States. The match was refereed by referee Ismail Al-Fat from Austin, United States.

Defender Virgil van Dijk opened the scoring for the Netherlands in the 50th minute, but Japan striker Kaito Nakamura was able to equalize the score in the 57th minute. Striker Crescencio Summerville then gave the Netherlands the lead again in the 64th minute, but Japanese midfielder Daiite Kamada scored the equalizer in the 89th minute.

With this draw, the Netherlands and Japan each obtained one point, and are at the top of the Group F table. The Sweden national team is scheduled to meet Tunisia in the next match in the group on June 15. In the second round, the Dutch team will face Sweden on June 20, while Japan will play with Tunisia on June 21, and the group stage will conclude with confrontations between the Netherlands, Tunisia, Japan, and Sweden on June 26.

The 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. Argentina was the defending champion after defeating France in the 2022 World Cup final.
