The Qatari national team wins the first point in its history in the 2026 World Cup

The Qatari national team tied with its Swiss counterpart in the first round match of Group B in the 2026 World Cup, where the match ended in a 1-1 draw. With this draw, the Qatari team achieved its first point in the history of its participation in the World Cup. Before the start of the tournament, which is being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, this was the second participation of the Qatari team in the World Cup, as it obtained a ticket to participate directly in the last edition as a host country.  After this match, Qatar and Switzerland are equal on one point, as they occupy third and first places respectively in the group table. While Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina also have one point, occupying second and fourth places. In the second round, the Qatari team will face Canada on June 19, while Switzerland will meet Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 18, before both meet Canada on June 24. The 2026 World Cup continues from June 11 to July 19, and the Argentine national team is considered the defending champion after its victory in the 2022 final over the French national team.
