South Korea scores after 25 precise passes — the fifth-best result in World Cup history

The South Korean national team scored a goal in its match against the Czech Republic (2:1) after a series of 25 consecutive accurate passes. This goal is considered the fifth best result in World Cup history, according to Opta Sport. The match will be held in the first round of Group A on June 12, 2026, and ended with a 2-1 victory for South Korea. The Czech player Krajci scored the first goal in the 59th minute, while Hwang In-beom equalized the score for South Korea in the 67th minute, then Kyu scored the second goal in the 80th minute.  The previous record was set in the 2022 World Cup during England's match against Iran (6:2), where England's series of passes before Jack Grealish's goal consisted of 35 passes. Korean player Hwang In-beom, who scored the important goal in the 67th minute, not only equaled the chances of victory for both teams, but was also the best player in the match in terms of the number of accurate passes (73 passes). In the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, South Korea will play against Mexico on June 19, while the Czechs will face South Africa on June 18.
