Everton is about to pay 25 million euros to attract this player in the midfield: should the team agree?
Everton intends to pay 25 million euros to sign midfielder Mandela Keita from Parma, as it seeks to strengthen its ranks before the start of the new season, amid competition from Atalanta.
Goodison Park suffers from a lack of strength in midfield, with the team desperate for a player who can stop opposing attacks. In this context, the name Mandela Keita stands out. According to information reported by Sean Lant via SportWits, official talks have begun between Everton and Parma, but the latter is asking for €25 million for their 24-year-old Belgian international.
This amount may seem large, especially for a club that closely monitors its expenses. However, Atalanta, who are eyeing the Champions League, are also showing interest in the player, meaning Everton need to act quickly.
Keita had a strong performance last season in Italy, making 37 appearances and racking up 2,991 minutes on the pitch. The player has a passing accuracy of 88.4% under pressure in the Italian League, making him an ideal option to keep the team balanced.

Although he is not considered an attacking player, having scored one goal and provided one assist during the season, Keita is considered a strong defensive shield, and has only picked up one yellow card all season, indicating his tactical intelligence on the pitch.
David Moyes needs this kind of tactical discipline, as his system relies on a reliable midfielder to protect the defence. While other options available may cost the same or even more, Keita provides the level of physicality and balance that Everton need.
Paying €25 million for Keita may be a gamble, but losing the deal to Atalanta due to management hesitation would leave a huge void in the squad before the start of the season.
