Spain returns to intimidate opponents: 3-0 against Austria, and Oyarzabal shines against Lamine Yamal
Spain took control of the match against Austria with a crushing 3-0 win, thanks to the brilliance of Oyarzabal who scored two goals, paving the way for qualification to the World Cup knockout rounds.
Spain did not give Austria any chance, as it achieved a clear 3-0 victory in their match in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. The match was held at the SoFi Stadium, and with this victory, Spain qualified for the round of 16.
The match witnessed remarkable brilliance from player Mikel Oyarzabal, who scored two goals, in addition to a third goal from Pedro Porro, to confirm the overwhelming superiority of the Spanish team over the course of the two halves.
Spain started the match in an attacking style from the beginning, imposing a high press and constantly occupying Austria's half of the field, which helped them develop the game quickly on the flanks. Lamine Yamal was the most inspiring in the early going, while Laporte went close to opening the scoring from a free kick.
Despite Austria's attempts to put pressure, Spain gave them no rest. After a short break, the Spanish side regained control to take a deserved lead in the 37th minute, when Oyarzabal scored his first goal after a wonderful pass from Cucurella.
In the second half, coach Ralf Rangnick tried to change the course of the match by introducing Arnautovic and Kalajdzic, but Spain took advantage of moments of weakness in the Austrian defense to score the second goal in the 66th minute through Porro. The Spanish team continued to dominate, and Oyarzabal succeeded in adding the third goal in the 89th minute to conclude the match with a comfortable victory.
With this performance, Oyarzabal proved that he is one of the most prominent players in the tournament, as he scored 17 goals in his last 16 matches with the national team, and achieved his fourth goal in four matches during this World Cup.
Now Spain is waiting to face the winner of the match between Portugal and Croatia in the qualifying rounds, where it hopes to continue its journey towards the title.
