Alex Hughes, son of legend Mark Hughes, dies at the age of 38

Alex Hughes, the son of Welsh football legend Mark Hughes, has died at the age of 38, causing great sadness for his family. Alex Hughes was Head of Player Scouting at Morecambe FC before moving to Grimsby Town. Mark Hughes expressed his deep sadness in an official statement, saying: “Jill and I are deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected loss of our dear son, Alex.”

Alex's history in football was extensive, having played for clubs such as Stockport County and Wexham, before moving on to work in player analysis and recruitment. Alex worked for famous clubs such as Blackburn, Manchester City, and Fulham, all of which were under his father's management. After that, he led a private academy in Portugal and became a player agent, and in recent years, he has worked with non-professional clubs such as AFC Velde and Morecambe.

News of Alex's death received a sad response from across the football community, with Grimsby Town FC expressing their shock, saying: "Everyone at Grimsby Town Football Club is very sad to hear of the passing of our player scouting leader, Alex Hughes.
