Malou Gounou is exploring options for leaving Chelsea after setting his price at £75m

French defender Malou Gounou is preparing to leave Chelsea this summer, as the club's management has set his price at 75 million pounds sterling. This comes after Chelsea agreed to an initial deal to sign Atalanta player Marco Balestra, who occupies the same position as Gouno, for an amount exceeding 43 million pounds sterling.

Gono was aware his future was uncertain after the deal was agreed, and sources said his representatives had held exploratory talks with several clubs, including Manchester City. However, Chelsea are asking for more than £75m for the player, who is considered an important cog in the defence.

Manchester City's management is seeking to strengthen its ranks by signing a right-wing defender to compete with Matheus Nunez next season, but news indicates that Gouno is not among the main options at this stage of the transfer market. Should he move to the Etihad Stadium, Gono will reunite with his former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca, who coached him for 18 months before leaving the club in January.

Chelsea need to make major player sales this summer, after finishing 10th in the Premier League last season and failing to qualify for European competitions. Spanish defender Marc Cucurella also joined Real Madrid in a deal worth 52 million pounds.

Chelsea is seeking to strengthen its ranks and wants to add at least a new central defender alongside Palestra, which puts the future of a number of players in doubt, including Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adabayo, and Wesley Fofana. Chalobah is attracting interest from Serie A club Comi, which qualified for the Champions League after finishing fourth under coach Cesc Fabregas. Chalobah is understood to be open to a transfer, but the potential cost of the deal is holding the Italians back from making a formal offer.
