Everton signs lucrative sponsorship deal with CMC Markets

Everton have signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with financial services company CMC Markets, which could take the club's revenue from shirt sponsorship contracts to more than £20m a year. CMC Markets will become Everton's official shirt sponsor in a multi-year partnership, giving the Merseyside club a boost of around 30% on the previous deal.

Everton's new shirt sleeve agreement, with previous sponsor Stake, is also around 30% larger than before, giving a boost to coach David Moyes as he seeks to strengthen his squad.

Everton announced its commitment to invest the proceeds in strengthening the squad, as the club seeks to sign Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough and Tyreek George from Chelsea.

The club is close to reaching an agreement for Hackney, who was named the Championship's player of the year last season. George, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Hill Dickinson, is also being negotiated by Everton to reduce his transfer fee which includes a £25m purchase option.

Alongside CMC Markets and Stake, Everton entered into a host of sponsorship deals last year, including with Hill Dickinson for the naming rights to their £800m stadium.
