Schurz is preparing to return to competition with NEC: skipping medical examinations and signing a triple contract

Bear Shores is ready to return to competition. After a period of absence since October 21, 2023 due to a serious knee injury he suffered in a match against Inter, the former Torino defender is preparing to start again in the Eredivisie. More specifically, he will start his career with NEC Nijmegen. After being evaluated by Ajax, Schurz chose to join FC Nijmegen, where he recently underwent and successfully passed the necessary medical tests. Schurz will now sign a three-year contract with the Dutch club, and his goal is to regain his fitness and return to playing, with the possibility of returning to the Italian League in which he played a prominent role during the 2022/23 season.  Since his injury, he began a difficult journey that lasted about three years, and he is now on his way out of this tunnel. It is noteworthy that NEC finished third in the Dutch League last season, and is preparing to participate in the third round of the Champions League qualifiers, with a clear goal of qualifying for the next stage of the tournament. This goal played a major role in convincing Schurz to join the club. In an interview conducted at the end of April, Schurz expressed his desire to return to Italy, but he did not receive positive responses from Italian clubs, which led to his agreement with FC Nijmegen, which promises him sufficient playing opportunities to regain his level, as he was previously considered one of the best defenders in the Netherlands. It is noteworthy that Crystal Palace had offered 32 million euros to acquire him, but Torino rejected the offer.
