Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer spoke about not joining the England national team squad for the 2026 World Cup. Coach Thomas Tuchel excluded him from the squad, which sparked widespread controversy. Palmer said: “This season has not been the best for me, but what is there, is there. I do not cry over a decision that cannot be changed, and I hope that my teammates will achieve success in the tournament. If I am not busy, I will definitely watch the matches.” He also added that he will have a complete rest period before returning to Chelsea, which will be coached by Happy Alonso. Palmer finished the 2025/2026 season by scoring 14 goals and providing five assists in 40 matches.
