Napoli signs Massimiliano Allegri as new coach until 2029

Napoli FC announced the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as the team's new coach with a contract extending until June 2029. This contract comes after the departure of Antonio Conte, who left the club at the end of May after two seasons during which he led the team, as he led Napoli to win the league title in the 2024-2025 season, before finishing second last season.

Allegri, 58, returns to Napoli after a short spell at the club during the 1997-98 season. Napoli were waiting for Allegri to finalize his contract with Milan before completing the deal. Allegri is considered one of Italy's most decorated coaches, having won the league title with Milan in 2011, then enjoyed great success at Juventus.

Between 2014 and 2019, Allegri led Juventus to five consecutive Italian League titles, four Italian Cup titles, two Italian Super Cup titles, and reached the Champions League final in 2015 and 2017.

Allegri returned to Juventus in 2021 and lifted a fifth Italian Cup in 2024, before taking over as Milan coach again for the 2025-26 season, but his experience at San Siro only lasted one season, as he was sacked after the team failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Over the course of his coaching career, Allegri won six Italian League titles, five Italian Cup titles, three Italian Super Cup titles, and was twice honored as Serie A Coach of the Year.
