Gregor van Dijk, the former midfielder, was able to turn his life after football into a successful entrepreneurial career, managing several sports projects in Portugal and the Netherlands.
This metamorphoses into the blood of the captain, Gregoire van Dijk.

Gregor van Dijk is one of the players that football fans will never forget to encounter, as he played as a midfielder for Rudy GC, Feyenoord and AEK Larnaca. He was characterized by his great passion on the field and was known for his combative personality, which made him very popular with his fans, although he was not always favored by his opponents. Throughout his career, Van Dijk broke many records, including holding the record for the most red cards in the Eredivisie for a long time.

Despite that combative personality, Van Dijk now lives a completely different life. In a recent video interview, he appeared calm and different from his days as a captain on the field, where he currently lives in Cascais, Portugal, more than ten years ago after the end of a long relationship with his Portuguese partner. Life in the Portuguese sun suits him, as he has a less stressful lifestyle compared to the Netherlands.

Van Dijk, who wakes up at 6 a.m., runs several business ventures, including a padel sports center in Portugal, where he also participates in international tournaments. However, his true passion lies in the business side of padel, as he has opened gyms for that purpose. When he thought about his life after his retirement, he realized that he needed to step away from the world of football for a while.

After a spell with AEK Larnaca, he decided to stop playing the game when he felt he had lost passion. “I don't feel the same enthusiasm anymore,” Van Dijk said, noting that he told his coach that he intended to stop playing. Despite the coach's attempts to persuade him to stay, Van Dijk had already made up his mind.

Van Dijk grew up in a sporting family, where his father, Jan van Dijk, was a famous player for FC Groningen, which exposed him to football from a young age. However, he wanted to explore life outside the world of football, so he started playing padel, and achieved great success in it, participating in international tournaments.

Today, Van Dijk runs a children's amusement center in Rotterdam, and is also developing a marketing agency to help local businesses boost their online presence. Although he is away from the field, his passion for football is still present, as he hopes to return to the world of football in a managerial role after gaining more experience in the field of business. His career has been full of challenges and successes, and he is a living example of how a sporting passion can turn into a successful career in the business world.

What's next?

Gregor van Dijk is expected to continue developing his sporting projects in Portugal, where he shows great passion for padel. He may also participate in international tournaments, which will enhance his presence in the world of sports even after his retirement.
