سيلتيك يقترب من صفقة قياسية للتعاقد مع كاسبر هوغ.
Celtic is moving towards signing Danish striker Kasper Hauge from Bodo/Glimt, to compensate for the departure of Daisen Meda to Ipswich. The deal represents an important step for the Scottish club.
Celtic Close In On Club Record Transfer For Kasper Hogh.

Martin O'Neill, Celtic's technical director, confirmed that the team is close to completing the deal for Kasper Hauge, the Danish striker, in an attempt to compensate for the goals and energy that the team lost after Daizen Meda's departure to Ipswich Town. Celtic have agreed to a deal worth more than £11 million with Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt, and Hogg is expected to undergo a medical examination within the next 24 hours.

O'Neill spoke after Celtic's match with AC Milan ended in a 2-2 draw, indicating that negotiations are in advanced stages but he has not yet officially announced the completion of the deal. He said: "I hope that will happen, and I think there is a good chance of that. But until the signing is made official, there may still be some unresolved matters. But things are moving in the right direction. He will undergo a medical examination in the coming hours. Without going into details, this is the type of player we are looking for, who has scored goals in the Champions League."

Hogg impressed for Bodo/Glimt, scoring six goals last season in the Champions League, and O'Neill believes signing players capable of performing in Europe's biggest stages is essential as Celtic prepare for another tough domestic and continental season. He added: "It's the quality we're looking for. Quality at affordable prices is a rare thing. But we're looking. We still think we need some extra players. But if Hogg arrives, I think he'll be a great addition for us. And I hope we get another player or two, if that's possible. But there's now strong competition for places in the team, and we'll take things as they come."

The potential deal comes less than 24 hours after Meda completed his £10m move to Ipswich, bringing an end to his successful spell in Glasgow. While Celtic moved quickly in the transfer market, O'Neill made no secret of his admiration for Japanese player Mida, stressing that the club and fans will miss him.

O'Neill said: "Of course I will miss him. He was in the final year of his contract. The club made him a big offer to stay 16 months ago, but he declined. He would have liked to play in the Premier League or the Bundesliga if he had the chance."

Rather than expressing disappointment at losing one of the team's standout players, O'Neill was keen to celebrate Meda's achievement in securing the move he had targeted for so long.

He added: "Of course I'll miss him, but I'm happy for him at the same time. He deserves a move. I think I said that last year, whether I'll be here or not, he deserves a move because he's been great for the club. We'll miss him for sure. We'll miss having him around the team, and I think Ipswich will get a player they'll really like. He's 28 or 29. I'm not sure if money is his motivation, but he'll do well, and that's good news. He's worth every penny of that."

It will not be easy to replace a player of Meda's influence, but Celtic believe Hogg has the qualities to help them fill that void. His proven ability to score in European competition, coupled with his age and potential for further development, make him a priority target as O'Neill looks to revamp his attacking options. As the medical date approaches, Celtic appear to have moved quickly to ensure one chapter is closed and another opened, with Hogg set to take on the mantle of leading the attack following the departure of one of the key players in Celtic's recent history.

What's next?
