Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta expressed his complete confidence that youngster Miles Lewis-Skelly will remain within the team during the current summer transfer period. This came during a press conference ahead of the team's opening match in the English Premier League against Coventry City.

Lewis-Skelly, considered one of the most prominent talents to emerge from the Arsenal academy, has been linked with moves to Chelsea and Manchester United, but Arteta confirmed that he is 100% confident that the player will stay at Arsenal. He said: “Players who have grown up in our academy and feel a love and connection to the club provide additional value that cannot be dispensed with. We must protect these players and work to develop them to be an essential part of the team.”

Arteta also pointed out the importance of relying on young players, explaining: "We need to look after them in a special way because they bring value that is difficult to find except in their talent. We must protect these assets as much as possible."

In addition, Arteta spoke about another important player in the team, Martin Zobimendi, who was one of Arsenal's best players last season. He said: "Zobimendi was without a doubt one of the best players for Arsenal last season. Without him, we would not have reached the positions we have reached. He is a player who deserves a lot of praise."

As the start of the season approaches, Arteta stressed the need to have difficult conversations with some of the players who may leave the club, such as Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Ethan Nwaneri. He said: “It is important to face these facts clearly and transparently, even if they are difficult for the players. We are working to determine the situation with each player individually. Our goal is to have a big and strong team capable of competing at the highest levels.”

Arsenal have not had a good history of selling players, with the record for the highest sale still being the £35m Liverpool received for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. When Arteta was asked about this, he replied: “It's not about being good or bad at selling, it depends on the options we have.”

Regarding the new signings, Arteta expressed optimism that Zobimendi could feature in the opening match, despite suffering an injury in the Community Shield match. Arteta also expressed his interest in the potential deal for Aston Villa player Ezri Konsa, stressing that he hopes the player will be able to participate in the match.

What's next?

As the end of the summer transfer window approaches, Arsenal are expected to continue to strengthen their squad, with a focus on retaining young talents such as Lewis-Skelly. At the same time, the club will evaluate the situation of other players such as Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, to ensure the formation of a strong team capable of competing in the English Premier League.
