Robbie Savage began his spell in charge of Peterborough United with a thumping 4-1 win over Eveswish Town Under-21s, ensuring his side qualified for the second round of the Jersey Mike's Cup. Following his appointment last Friday, Savage saw his side lead 4-0 at half-time, securing their second successive victory in the tournament before the group stage ended.

Peter Borough's win also sent holders Luton into the next round after they picked up two points from a penalty shootout win against Colchester United on Saturday. Another new League One manager, Bradford City's Michael Duff, was in the stands to see his side beat Rotherham United 4-0 and advance to the knockout stage.

Early goals from Will Swan and Stickin Humphreys put Bradford in the lead, before Swan added his second and a penalty kick from Nick Powell to secure qualification, leaving Rotherham needing to beat Newcastle Under-21s in their final group game.

Huddersfield also qualified for the next stage with a comfortable 5-0 win over Rochdale, with Lynden Ghosh, Jay Smith-Sway and Cameron Ashia scoring goals. Samson Tuved scored his first goal for Huddersfield in his second appearance, and Jamie Spencer added a fifth.

Sunderland's Under-21 squad included Luke O'Nien, who won the Championship with the first team in 2021, but could not prevent a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, which saw the latter qualify for the last 32.

Accreton Stanley are considered favorites to qualify from North Group A, after David Totenda scored a 98th-minute equalizer against Salford, making the match go to a penalty shootout, as the home team cruised to a 5-4 victory.

Dylan Hartley, 15, also became the youngest player to feature in a competitive match for Doncaster Rovers, coming on as a substitute in his side's 1-0 victory over Liverpool Under-21s.

Stockport County, who were runners-up last season, went on to qualify from their group with their second successive win following a 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury, with Che Gardner scoring his first goal of his Hatters career.

Noah Sawkin scored his fourth goal of the game as Fleetwood thrashed Barnley 4-1 to go top of their group.

Blackpool earned a bonus point by beating Crewe 4-2 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw, while Wigan secured qualification from that group despite not playing on Tuesday.

Port Vale won 2-0 over Mansfield to put an end to the latter's hopes. Savage left National League club Forest Green Ravers to take over at Peterborough and begin his first experience as a coach in the EFL.

Harry Leonard scored twice in the match with Peter Burrow scoring four goals in ten minutes during the first half to seal a comfortable win. The team now has six points out of six, and confirmation of their victory over holders Luton, who have five points from two games, will see them advance to the second round.

Three other clubs in the Southern Division - Stevenage, Cambridge and MK Dons - recorded back-to-back wins on Tuesday. Stevenage and Cambridge won 2-1 over Leicester and Northampton respectively, while Aaron Collins scored a hat-trick in MK Dons' 7-1 thrashing of Brentford Under-21s.

The Academy Bees will qualify if they win their final group game against Crawley, who picked up their first points with a 4-0 win over Bromley. Emre Tezgel's brace helped Wikum to a 4-1 win over Bristol Rovers, sending the club to the next round.

Exeter, Plymouth and Barnet's matches ended in draws, but they received bonus points from penalty shootout victories.
