Trent Alexander-Arnold, who moved from Liverpool to Real Madrid, is seeking to establish himself as a key member of the England national team. After being overlooked in the World Cup squad, his performance in the UEFA Nations League could determine his future with the team.

لماذا هذا مهم

Trent Alexander-Arnold's return to the England national team under Thomas Tuchel reflects the player's importance in the team's formation, especially after a period of marginalization. His distinguished performance in the match with the Czech Republic, where he made a wonderful pass, may change Tuchel’s view of him and enhance his chances of participating in the upcoming matches in the European Nations League.

Manager Thomas Tuchel's apparent lack of trust in Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of the notable aspects of his time in charge of England. The 27-year-old, who won the Premier League title with Liverpool, has moved to Real Madrid since he last featured for his country, where he was selected as a left-back by caretaker coach Lee Carzley, scoring in a 3-1 win over Finland in the UEFA Nations League in October 2024. However, he was overlooked in England's squad for last year's World Cup, although the right-back position was frequently in question for Tuchel, making it clear that Trent was not... There is no option available for this problem.

But Tuchel's decision to bring Alexander-Arnold back into the squad during the four-match UEFA Nations League camp came as a surprise to everyone, as he had been largely sidelined before. Alexander-Arnold appeared in the match as the first right-back used by Tuchel in 24 matches, when he started against the Czech Republic in Prague, as England was seeking to make up for its 3-2 loss to defending champion Spain at Wembley.

In this match, Alexander-Arnold was able to prove himself with a world-class moment that might convince his coach to focus on what he can do instead of what he cannot. The player known as 'Trent', according to the name on the back of his shirt, showed off his exceptional skills when he fired a brilliant pass with his right foot after winning the ball back, helping Anthony Gordon score with a header.

Although Tuchel may still harbor some doubts about Alexander-Arnold's defence, those moments clearly showed what he can offer, which makes him worthy of a chance to prove himself. Tuchel praised the player's performance when speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, where he said: “He performed well, he had a great pass, and he was a professional in the truest sense of the word.”

Gordon, who capitalized on Alexander-Arnold's pass, added: "I make those runs a lot, but few players have the ability and technique to make those passes."

Alexander-Arnold is a risk-taker in both defensive and attacking aspects, and he showed that by running 70 yards in a bid to increase England's attacking options. In the end, that moment was enough to bring about a change in his career with the national team.

Now, Tuchel must provide confidence to Alexander-Arnold, especially with his 28th birthday approaching, as it will be necessary for him to show his skills in the next match against Croatia. If he cannot impress Tuchel in this camp, it will be difficult for him to regain his confidence in the future.

Alexander-Arnold said: "It was a great feeling to represent my country again. I always believed in my ability to play for England, and now I hope the manager is happy with my performance."

ماذا بعد

Tuchel is expected to continue to evaluate Alexander-Arnold during the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches, as the team seeks to make up for their recent loss. If the player continues to produce strong performances, he could become the primary option at right-back, positively impacting England's season in the tournament.
