Match Report - Les 24 - 6 Warrington | 04 July 2026

Les Leopards boosted their hopes of qualifying for the Super League play-offs after David Armstrong led them to a 24-6 victory over Warrington Wolves during the Magic Weekend. Worrington looked far from their usual level at Hill Dickinson, with the team only managing to score one point, a solitary try from Mark Snead in the final minute of the game. Other than that, there was little to celebrate for Wolves, who were outscored by their opponents in the first half, but coach Sam Burgess expressed pride in his team for continuing to fight.

Les started the game brightly, putting pressure on the Warrington defence, before Tessie Nyio crossed the line to score his fourth try of the season. David Armstrong made another effort after being passed by Omilan Hanley, and he was the man of the match, as he raced away from a group of Wolves players to score a solitary effort. The first half continued in the same pattern, with Leigh not being on top of the scoring, while Worrington did not offer much in attack, with the first half statistics being devastating. Les had 61% of the ball before the half-time break, covering 180 meters more than their opponents.

Back on the field, Worrington looked more motivated, but they continued to make mistakes, and Les took advantage of their lack of chances. Perhaps their best chance of the second half came shortly after, as Wolves worked to build up their attacks, but Snead delivered a poor kick to Leigh's Adam Cook. Quickly, Les turned defense into attack, as Edwin Ibape used his strength to score his side's third try from his substitute position.

Matters worsened for Warrington when Sam Powell was sent off to the penalty area for an illegal tackle on the player who had scored the try, New York. Powell surrounded the legs of Niyo, who fell in an uncomfortable position, and was replaced by Gareth O'Brien. Les fans feared the worst, as Niyue was seen sitting on the bench with ice on his knee afterwards. With one man down, Worrington struggled to keep up with the pace of Leigh's attacks, with Cook passing a short ball to Hanley, who cut a brilliant line through the Wolves defense and scored his side's fourth try of the match.

"It was a great performance," Les Leopards coach Adrian Lahm told Sky Sports. "I thought we were physical well throughout. It was good to beat a team in the top six. We needed a win like this, and I'm grateful for that."
