• Harvey Elliott talks about his return to Liverpool after an unsuccessful loan spell at Aston Villa, expressing his hope of regaining his place in the team.
• Harvey Elliott Speaks On Liverpool 'Second Chance'.

Harvey Elliott has returned to Liverpool after an unsuccessful loan spell at Aston Villa, where he considers this return to be a "second chance". His expression of this opportunity is very significant, as it comes at a time when Elliott needs to prove himself again after an experience that was not what he had hoped for during his loan period.

Elliott, now 23, is no longer a young player who can wait long for opportunities to come. He has seen his rise from Liverpool's academy to early Premier League appearances and then a move to Liverpool, where he showed glimpses of his talent, but now needs to get enough game time.

His experience at Aston Villa was designed to provide this opportunity, but things did not go as expected. Villa had the option to buy Elliott for £35m if he made 10 appearances, but they decided not to exercise that option after Elliott played just nine games. Consequently, Elliott spent most of the year in a state of uncertainty.

Returning earlier than expected, Elliott joined Liverpool for his first two games of pre-season under manager Andoni Iraola. This is very important, as the new coach and new staff give Elliott a new opportunity to re-evaluate him.

Commenting on his loan period, Elliott said: “I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and try something new, but unfortunately things did not work out.” Elliott adds that he feels that this return represents a new opportunity for him, especially with the presence of a new coach who can change things positively.

It is important for Elliott to realize that dwelling on the past will not help, but rather he must focus on proving himself in every practice and match in the pre-season. He knows he needs to restore trust again, not assume it will come back automatically.

Iraola's arrival is an opportunity to renew hope for many players at Liverpool, and Elliott is one clear example. With a new coach, there is room for change and creativity. Elliott has the ability to play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, and needs to use this opportunity to prove himself as a key member of the team.

Elliott also indicated that he will have a conversation with Iraola later in the season about his future. It is a wise decision, as he must first focus on his fitness and performance on the field before thinking about his long-term future.

Liverpool may not have any commitments to him due to the failed loan experiment, but Elliott knows his talent and value to the team is still there. Elliot came back excited, looking happy to wear the shirt again.

Concluding his speech, Elliott said: “I'm here now trying to find my feet in the team.” This is the goal he seeks to achieve, without any exaggerated statements or guarantees, but rather a player trying to turn a bad year into a useful new beginning.

What's next?
