Alex Zinin compares Sergei Galicetti to Roman Abramovich

Alex Zinin, CEO and Sports Director of Родина, made interesting remarks about Sergei Galecti, owner of Краснодар, comparing Galecti to Roman Abrahamovich, former Chelsea FC owner.

Zinin said: “Roman Arkadievich bought Chelsea - a big club with a global history. As for Sergei Nikolaevich, he built his history from scratch, applying at every stage his own philosophy without looking at anything else. These are different worlds. Galicetti was always accustomed to inventing unconventional steps, and he learned from big business that you should not stand in the general queue - but rather you should do something special and unique that will attract the queue to you.

Sergei Nikolaevich had many private football convictions, but he believed in them strongly. For example, he insisted on leaving three attackers in front during set-pieces in front of his own goal. However, Краснодар has changed a lot since then, and this would not have happened without changes in some aspects of the club owner's vision.

Today Краснодар plays a completely different football than the one in which it was initially built. There have been developments. The only thing that has not changed is the vital role of the midfield. There was a time when a foreign coach came to the club and Краснодар almost stopped using the midfield in building attacks. I know that this was a painful story for Sergei Nikolaevich - he considered that the team's style of play had become poor,” Zinin said in his exclusive conversation with Champions reporters Alexander Yershov and Vladimir Chivyrik.
